MARBLES

I have always loved the look of old-school marbles - the intriguing inner swirls and odd colors. I remember Christmas 2006, when I was photographing some marbles at my sisters’ home, and after enlarging the image, being captivated by the organic patterns and different colors interacting with each other. Once again, I was absorbed in the repetition of form, the sensuality of glass, and like the Glass Block series, found another exploration into abstraction within tight realism. I decided to arrange lighting to provide even more interesting shadow play within groupings of multiples, and a whole new series was born.
